Snacks & Dips
The ultimate beer snack
These fire crackers are dangerously addictive — buttery, smoky, sweet, a little spicy, and completely impossible to stop eating. They take minutes to throw together and come out of the oven golden, crispy, and coated in the most incredible caramelised spice mix. Perfect with a cold beer, served at a BBQ, or just sitting on the couch. Inspired by the How Sweet Eats smoky savoury fire crackers.
Preheat oven to 150°C.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave. Stir in the brown sugar, garlic salt, smoked paprika, chilli flakes, Italian herbs, and black pepper until well combined.
Spread the crackers in a single layer on a large lined baking tray. Pour the butter mixture over the crackers and toss gently to coat evenly.
Bake for 15 minutes, then carefully turn the crackers over and bake for a further 15 minutes until golden and caramelised.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the tray — they will crisp up further as they cool. Serve in bowls alongside cold drinks.
Kitchen Notes
These keep well in an airtight container for up to 5 days — if they last that long. They also freeze beautifully; store in a zip-lock bag and pull them out straight from the freezer. Mini Ritz crackers work best but any small, crisp savoury cracker will do.
What I'd serve with this
In a bowl in the middle of the table with cold drinks. They also make a great addition to a grazing board alongside dips, cheese, and cured meats.
